Hi! Adam and Heidi here. Our journey to create healthier homes began in 2015 when we were expecting our first child and taking on a major renovation of our home.

Wanting to make the renovation as safe as we could for our baby, we started researching safe, healthy building products. What we found was eye-opening.

Like most tradies, we hadn’t realised just how toxic building materials can be. They can contain Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) that can lead to long-term health effects on both the applicator and those living in the home.

Toxic chemical loads in our homes build up over time, contributing to poor indoor air quality. This toxicity causes a number of short and long-term issues such as eye, nose and throat irritation, shortness of breath, headaches and even lung, kidney and central nervous system damage. Certain building materials have also been linked to cancer.

Creating healthier homes has now become a passion for us at The Good Tradie and led Adam to study at The Australian College of Environmental Studies in 2019 to expand our knowledge on how to reduce health hazards in the built environment.

In 2021, we took our mission to create healthier living environments into businesses when we expanded into commercial fitouts and renovations.
